Working as a Wintry One Man Band

Doorbells ring are you listening
In the hall, dog hairs glistening
Deliveries come
The hoovering’s done
Still an a4 list to do – what fun!

Christmas cards, in a pile
Might get done, in a while
With Christmas cheer
They’ll get them I fear
In good time for Christmas Day next year!

In this weather I prefer the indoors
Staying warm and eating Christmas treats
But who would do the shopping then and what’s more
When I’m in the car I get some peace!

Kids in bed, until noontime
Parents stressed, on the red wine
Quite unrefined
Risking their lives
Putting Christmas lights on trees outside

Doorbells ring are you listening
In the hall family’s visiting
I’d better get on
And stop writing songs
Happy Christmas each and every one

Happy Christmas each and every one!
