Please forgive me
I know your son, but little of your plight
It happens now and has for long
I knew it wasn’t right
I saw the towns all ripped and torn
The holes the damage caused
When bombs hit and dark nights lit
With sounds of loud discord
I heard they took not one or two
But many without care
They killed and beat the life from them
Like nobody could bear
Those left, they fled in extreme fear
I think that would be you
And me and others know for real
We would have done that too
I knew the life you tried to live
Was full of fear and strife
I saw it on the news
As I went about my life
I heard the tales of taken souls
The talk of blood and violence
I barely changed my life at all
But paid my viewing license.
I couldn’t see how streets once there
Could fit into the scene
They were barely recognisable
As I viewed them on the screen
You see I waited far too long
Just watching on the news.
Home comforts all around me,
Viewing lives I’d never choose
Please forgive me
What I’ve done was little for your plight
It happens now and still goes on
It simply isn’t right.
